The specialist difference

Bifold doors need more than a general repair.

Pro-Lock is a bifold door repair specialist with extensive experience working with aluminium, uPVC, timber and hybrid bifold doorsets. That includes major systems from Origin, Vufold, and Schüco, as well as timber doorsets manufactured by Henderson, Brio, and Centor.

Each material behaves differently in use. Aluminium systems are often affected by running gear and alignment; uPVC systems by rollers, seals, and locking adjustments; timber doorsets by movement, fit, and hardware; and hybrid systems by the interaction between those materials. We assess the complete doorset so the repair matches the system.

These are precision systems with several connected moving parts. A door may feel like it has a lock problem when the real cause is a worn roller or a panel that has dropped. Our job is to understand the complete doorset, find the underlying fault, and restore it properly.

Seasonal changes in temperature, sunlight, and weather can make bifold door panels and frames expand and contract. That is why a temporary adjustment may not be enough; we look for the underlying cause and aim to leave you with a long-term repair.

That specialist focus means practical, repair-first advice. If your existing door can be repaired, we will explain how. If replacement is genuinely the sensible option, you will have a clear reason, not a sales pitch.

A holistic approach

Pro-Lock checks the complete doorset and aims to return it to operation as intended by the manufacturer, rather than treating only the immediate symptom. This helps prevent unnecessary stress transferring to mechanical components, reduces the cycle of repeat repairs, and maximises long-term reliability and service life.

Assessment before repair

Why do you charge £79 for an assessment when some companies offer free quotes?

Your assessment is carried out by an experienced engineer, not a salesman. We complete an in-depth assessment of all aspects of your bifold doorset, talk you through the findings while we are on site, and provide the information in the report that accompanies the quotation for any repairs recommended. The £79 professional assessment visit lasts 45 to 60 minutes. No repair work is carried out during the assessment. The report and itemised quotation then follow by email, so you can understand the findings and options before deciding whether to proceed. If you choose to go ahead with the repair, the £79 assessment fee is credited against the repair cost, so you do not pay for the assessment in addition to the repair. The fee is also refunded if suitable parts are unavailable and we cannot provide a quote, or if the doorset is considered beyond economical repair.

All work carried out is backed by our market-leading 12 month warranty, covering our workmanship and any parts supplied and fitted as part of the repair where applicable.

Repair-first advice

An unbiased view of what your door needs.

Pro-Lock does not supply or fit new bifold doors. That matters: our recommendation is based on the condition of your existing door, not on selling you a replacement.

We will always look for a sensible repair first. When a part needs replacing, we explain why. When adjustment or servicing is enough, we will tell you that too.

Detailed bifold door services

The small parts make the whole doorset work.

A proper repair is not a quick fix applied to the most obvious symptom. We use the assessment to identify which parts are working together and which are not.

01

Fractured or damaged hinges

Assess hinge damage and wear where panels are folding, sitting, or moving incorrectly.

02

Broken, worn, or disconnected rollers

Trace heavy, noisy, or failing running gear and check whether suitable parts are available.

03

Dragging, dropped, or misaligned panels

Address movement and alignment faults as part of the complete doorset, not as an isolated adjustment.

04

Threshold and header catches

Investigate panels catching at the threshold or header, including track, frame, and panel position.

05

Closing and locking problems

Assess doors that are difficult to close or lock before force creates further damage.

06

Locks, cylinders, handles, and keeps

Repair or replace faulty security and closure hardware where the right part can be sourced.

07

Tracks and other hardware

Assess damaged or worn tracks, guides, magnets, catches, and related working hardware.

08

Failed seals and draughts

Trace draughts, rattles, and poor contact through seals, panel position, and closure.

09

Toe and heel glazing support

Toe and heel is one important area checked when appropriate: manufacturer-specific glazing packers positioned at diagonally opposite corners of the glass help keep the sash square and level, supporting smooth movement and, where relevant, lock alignment.

10

Complete doorset overhauls

A complete doorset overhaul is a repair option used when frame distortion is beyond the manufacturer’s tolerances and/or panel realignment cannot compensate for the degree of frame distortion. It can include structural repairs where the frame is distorted, but not every complete overhaul requires structural frame repair.

Why choose Pro-Lock

Experience that shows in the detail.

01

The mechanism is complex

Bifold doors are precision-engineered systems. A fault at the handle can begin with a roller, hinge, guide, track, or settled threshold.

02

The right tools matter

Specialist tools and experience help protect the frame and track from avoidable damage while the fault is investigated.

03

The right part matters

We can work with original, obsolete, or OEM manufacturer parts where they are available and appropriate for the repair.

04

The advice stays independent

Pro-Lock does not supply or fit new doors, so our recommendation is based on what your existing door actually needs.

20+ years’ experience

More than two decades of locksmith and bifold-door experience helps Pro-Lock identify complex mechanisms, diagnose underlying faults, and choose the right repair approach.

Fully trained and insured

Customers can rely on trained engineers with the knowledge to work carefully on aluminium, uPVC, timber, and hybrid doorsets, with appropriate insurance in place.

Bi fold door repair

“I called Matt when I identified my bifold doors weren’t working as well as they had been. At the initial appointment, he honestly advised what work was needed, which I agreed to following a detailed quotation. Another Matthew undertook the work to a very high standard. He was very professional and thorough in his work, and my doors now glide open and closed. I can thoroughly recommend this company.”
