Independent repair advice

Why Pro-Lock

We repair bifold doors for a living. We do not sell new doors, so our only incentive is to put yours right.

A different incentive

How some repair services operate

To understand why we work the way we do, it helps to know how some other repair options operate.

01

Door companies that also sell new doorsets

Some companies offer a bifold door repair service but their main business is supplying and fitting new doors. In many cases the financial incentive is to sell you a new doorset, which can bias their assessment. Doorsets that are easily repairable are sometimes condemned instead.

How we're different: We do not supply or fit new doors. Our only recommendation is the one that is right for your doorset.

02

Window and door companies offering repairs

Many will carry out a quick fix, but they do not always spend the time identifying and understanding the underlying cause. For example, a broken hinge is replaced, but the poor alignment or missing magnet catch that caused the failure is left unchecked, so the same part fails again.

How we're different: We assess the complete doorset, correct the underlying cause and bring it back to the correct working standard, so the repair lasts.

03

General locksmiths

Locksmiths are perfectly capable of repairing or replacing lock systems. However, if underlying problems with alignment, geometry or the doorset itself are not addressed, the new components will not last long.

How we're different: We treat locks and locking mechanisms as part of the complete doorset and make sure the whole system works as one.

Patterns we see

What we see most often

The majority of our work falls into two categories: wear and tear or servicing on doorsets that are ten years old or older, and badly installed doorsets that present with issues within their first few years.

Both respond to the same approach: diagnose the underlying cause, then repair the doorset properly the first time.

Wear and tear

Older doorsets often need a proper service, careful adjustment, or replacement of worn working parts.

Installation faults

A doorset can show alignment and geometry problems early when it has not been installed or adjusted correctly.
