09Complete doorset overhauls
A complete doorset overhaul is a repair option used when frame distortion is beyond the manufacturer’s tolerances and/or panel realignment cannot compensate for the degree of frame distortion. It can include structural repairs where the frame is distorted, but not every complete overhaul requires structural frame repair.
A common cause
Why toe and heel support matters.
Toe and heel is a glazing method using manufacturer-specific glazing packers positioned at diagonally opposite corners of the glass pane. They help keep the sash square and level, supporting smooth movement along the tracks and, where relevant, lock alignment with the strike plate. They can also help prevent sagging and panels catching at the top or bottom. It is one important area checked when appropriate; toe and heel is not the cause of every alignment fault.
Toe and heel is one important area we check when appropriate alongside panel position, running gear, hinges, tracks, seals, and the lock line. A replacement roller or adjustment may not solve the problem if another part of the doorset is contributing to the fault.
Seasonal changes in temperature, sunlight, and weather can make panels and frames expand and contract. We look for the underlying cause so the repair is not just a short-term adjustment.
The handle-side panel has dropped
The panel can sit low, rub or catch, and pull the lock out of line. We assess the support and connected hardware.
The door feels draughty or lets in water
Gaps may come from a tired seal, a shifted panel, or incorrect adjustment. We trace the route rather than assuming the gasket is the only fault.
The door will not lock cleanly
A locking fault can result from alignment elsewhere. We check the panel line, keeps, hinges, and lock together.

Pro-Lock checks the complete doorset and aims to return it to operation as intended by the manufacturer, rather than treating only the immediate symptom. This helps prevent unnecessary stress transferring to mechanical components, reduces the cycle of repeat repairs, and maximises long-term reliability and service life.
Your assessment is carried out by an experienced engineer, not a salesman. We complete an in-depth assessment of all aspects of your bifold doorset, talk you through the findings while we are on site, and provide the information in the report that accompanies the quotation for any repairs recommended. The £79 professional assessment visit lasts 45 to 60 minutes. No repair work is carried out during the assessment. The report and itemised quotation then follow by email, so you can understand the findings and options before deciding whether to proceed. If you choose to go ahead with the repair, the £79 assessment fee is credited against the repair cost, so you do not pay for the assessment in addition to the repair. The fee is also refunded if suitable parts are unavailable and we cannot provide a quote, or if the doorset is considered beyond economical repair.
Payment is only due after the repair has been completed to your satisfaction.
