The £79 professional assessment visit lasts 45 to 60 minutes. No repair work is carried out during the assessment. The report and itemised quotation then follow by email, so you can understand the findings and options before deciding whether to proceed. If you choose to go ahead with the repair, the £79 assessment fee is credited against the repair cost, so you do not pay for the assessment in addition to the repair. The fee is also refunded if suitable parts are unavailable and we cannot provide a quote, or if the doorset is considered beyond economical repair.

No repair work is carried out during the assessment. The findings are followed by a comprehensive report and itemised quotation by email, with repairs arranged separately. You can review the findings and decide whether to proceed before any work begins.

Pro-Lock repairs jammed doorsets and can carry out complete doorset overhauls where appropriate. A complete doorset overhaul is a repair option used when frame distortion is beyond the manufacturer’s tolerances and/or panel realignment cannot compensate for the degree of frame distortion. It can include structural repairs where the frame is distorted, but not every complete overhaul requires structural frame repair. We also work on fractured hinges; broken, worn, or disconnected rollers; dragging or misaligned panels; panels catching thresholds or headers; difficult locking; faulty locks, cylinders, handles, and keeps; and worn or damaged tracks and seals.

You do not need to identify your doorset before getting in touch. Many bifold doors are unbranded or contain a combination of components from different manufacturers. Identifying the system, cross-checking component and part availability, and sourcing suitable parts through our established European network of suppliers is our job. Toe and heel is a glazing method using manufacturer-specific glazing packers positioned at diagonally opposite corners of the glass pane. They help keep the sash square and level, supporting smooth movement along the tracks and, where relevant, lock alignment with the strike plate. They can also help prevent sagging and panels catching at the top or bottom. It is one important area checked when appropriate; toe and heel is not the cause of every alignment fault.
